HAPPY NEW YEAR !!
Dear Parents,
This is my second letter to you since the beginning of the year. Welcome Back! Remember that this year we must work harder to ensure that our students are successful in school. Thank you for your support!
I would also like to thank all the parents and guardians who are participating in our Parent Involvement Initiative, " Keep the Promise-One Contact, Once a Month" with your child's teacher. Stay involved in your child learning!
At this time of the year, we are preparing our students in grades 1-8 for important Assessments. Please continue to support your child in the following ways:
1. Attendance is mandatory. Students can not learn when they are not in school. Make sure they get to school before the 8:30 A.M. bell!
2. Schedule a phone or school conference with your child's teacher before February.
3. Make sure that your child completes the Home Learning Assignment and READS EVERY NIGHT. 30 -50 Minutes.
4. Encourage your child to read Accelerated Reader books at home and take the computer tests at school. Did you know that the Accelerated Reader Lab is open from 7:30 to 8:15 Monday through Thursday?
5. Bring your fifth or eighth grade child to Science Saturday Academy - These students are welcome to attend with a signed permission form .
6. We are a mandatory uniform school. Please do not allow your child to wear jeans to school. Support the PTA and purchase the school spirit shirts. Show your Leopard Pride!
7. Did you know you have the right to look at your child's grades online? You can track your child's academic progress from your very own computer. Come out to the school and we can show you how!
8. Please know that some students are using cell phones as toys and not for emergencies. Do not allow children to bring toys to school.
Parents, kindly take a good look at your child's current academic and social progress. Are you satisfied? Contact your child's teacher right away to begin working together as we prepare for the 2008 Stanford Achievement Tests in First and Second grades and the FCAT in Third through Eighth grades.
Together, We Can Believe, Achieve and Succeed!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Agenoria Powell, Principal
